Bright and early Monday morning, a friend and I decided to take a nice long bike ride to the Beaches. Starting just north of Yonge and Eglinton we rode through Sunnybrook Park and then passed the Ontario Science Centre. We followed a trial parallel to the Don Valley Parkway and proceeded down to the Lakeshore. Although the weather has been very topsy turvy, the sun was shining and there was not a cloud in sight. The only drawback to the ride was the white pieces of fluffy pollen flying everywhere. And of course I forgot my shades, so I ended up squinting in between the pieces of pollen flying directly into me. My partner taught me how to use my gears, so I was able to make the steep climbs more easily. When we got down to Lakeshore, I found a bicycle sensor which activates traffic lights (similar to when you press the crosswalk light). Anyways the ride was great. My legs are killing me, but it was worth it. It was nice to see the city from a different angle. I can’t wait for the next one.
